It has 2 footswitches, One for the main power and one for engaging disengaging the sample hold mode.
As this effect has a voltage conversion circuit , and is rooted in some vintage ideas, the use of a high end isolated and regulated power supply is required and mandatory. 9v on a 100ma tap is fine.
Depending on your pickups input source chain placement, the effects clock MAY be audible. This is normal and you just need to deal with it. Its part of the sample hold circuits design and how it works.
